Happy Weekend! Valentine's Day is less than a week, I have all my favorite skincare products in front of me right now. When it comes to prepping my skin for a big day, I am extra considerate of what I do before bed and when I wake up. Granted, I am human, and sometimes just use a face wipe then go to bed after a long day. I also want to note that everyone's skin is different. We are all unique. You may not need to do these steps or you may feel that you want to use products targeting other concerns, My main concerns for my skin are hydration and redness. Some people can just shower, put on moisturizer and call it a night. I do that sometimes, but I feel that my skin gets really clear when I follow this routine.
1. Pacifica Cactus Water Makeup Removing Wipes: I love these. I talked about them in an IG story before. If you want to hydrate your skin while removing makeup, these are for you. The only thing I would have to say about these are that they get a little sticky/tacky feeling after use on your hands and face. I would not use these and go to bed. I do definitely use these every time I take my makeup off to do a skincare routine at night. They work so well and get all my makeup off. These do not dry out my skin at all and I love that. Aloe vera is all over my skincare routine right now because I la-oveee it so much. It works wonders on my skin - really makes it feel clear. It also has jojoba oil that leaves my skin feeling supple and lifted.
2. Derma-e Microdermabrasion Scrub: This is the type of product I only use once in a blue moon to prep my skin for special occasions. It is a more harsh product on the skin. However, it gets all the dead skin and dirt off your face. I like to think of it as a skin refresher/restart. I make sure to include this in my routine at least 3 days to about a week before the big day. That gives my skin enough time to breath and relax. Everyone is different, you may need less or more time. My skin is very sensitive so I like to make sure that extra day or two is there incase I need it. For this routine, it works as a cleanser, detox face mask and a scrub at the same time, so I don't see the need to add another step for a cleanser.
3. Mario Badescu Facial Toner with Aloe, Herb and Rose Water: I love this stuff. This product is an all time classic and favorite of many. I love aloe and rose water because I feel it really calms the redness of my skin and leaves it feelings smooth. It is very gentile on the skin. I also feel that this product tightens my pours and makes them less defined. Sometimes, I spray this to set my makeup or when I have a full face of makeup and want to add a bit of hydration, brightness and glow to my look. I find that when my skin feels dry, it has a dull appearance. So, I love this toner and it's a must have for me.
4. Origin's High-Potency Night-A-Mins Refining Face Oil: This is a very important step in this routine. After removing all the dirt, bad bacteria and dead skin, it's important to replenish your skin with the nutrients that it needs. This one in particular packs the punch of vitamins, herbs and minerals. It isn't too oily and it's not sticky. It gets the job done. When I apply this after my toner, I wait a few minutes before adding the moisturizer so my skin can absorb the goodness this product has. I apply it before bed and sometimes in the morning when I don't put too much makeup on and want a little bit of extra something on my face before I spot conceal.
5. Juice Beauty Nutrient Moisturizer: I use this before bed as the last step of my skincare routine and every morning when I wake up. I also use this under my primer and foundation when I put on a full face of makeup sometimes. I love this stuff. It absorbs into my skin, leaving it smooth and soft. It is not too oily and I feel that my skin stays hydrated for a good amount of time. If you have dry skin like me, it's significant to find a good moisturizer that works. I find myself going back to this one over and over.
